For instance, the SAV-C1 can compete with a Stereo Preamplifier, provided however, that the sound requirements within the multi-channel range by a consistent symmetrical structure.

Integrated hi-fi amplifier. The electronic circuitry has been developed following the "fully-balanced" design philosophy. In particular the pre-amplifier section is of very high grade as it employs the devices OPA 2134 and OPA 2604 from Burr-Brown. 16 power transistors per channel are taking care of a stunning start-up. The power stage comes equipped with an oversized toroidal core transformer of 2 x 280 Watts plus an energy storage capacity of 40.000 µF per channel. Remote control unit supplied.

More information on XLR Balanced Techonology...
Balanced lines are characterized by the fact that there are two center conductors for the signal, usually surrounded by a shield. This shield is connected to ground like unbalanced lines but it is not required as one of the signal conductors. In fact, some balanced cables like CAT-5 twisted pair data cables and analog telephone lines don't have a shield at all.

The sole purpose of the shield is to provide extra defense against unwanted interference. A benefit of this configuration is that the shield only needs to be connected to ground at one end of the cable ......
