Ortofon was founded in 1918 by two Danish engineers, Axel Petersen and Arnold Poulsen. These two pioneers had one very clear objective
in mind - to put sound onto film, and with this, they established the Electrical Fonofilms Company A/S, which later on was renamed Ortofon A/S. A few years later, in the Palace Theatre, Copenhagen, they were able to present the first fully-synchronized sound films and in so doing, created a world sensation.

MAGNETIC Ortofon
In number, magnetic cartridges for Hi-Fi use are clearly dominant. The first magnetic cartridge from Ortofon, the M 15, was introduced in 1969, and a new era began with the result, that Ortofon within few yars became one of the world´s leading cartridge manufacturers. The magnetic range from Ortofon today goes from economic budget models to high-end sophisticated designs.
