CD Players and Turntables
Rega Apollo R & Saturn R
This revolutionary new player will analyse the disc to be played and (rather like the engine management system on a modern car which optimises the engine settings to ambient temperature, engine temperature, fuel quality etc.) will adjust itself to the disc in order to give optimal trouble free reading and great sound quality. This process takes a few short seconds and the resultant musical improvements are well worth the wait.
Mechanism
A new high quality mechanism has been used which incorporates a three-point mounting ball chuck. This has advantages over the magnetic puck type design. Firstly it presents the disc as flat as is possible to the laser spot directly resulting in improved reading of the information on the disc. Secondly the mass of the puck is lost completely giving the mechanism itself less stress and better acceleration and braking performance.
Digital, for the more technically minded!
This revolutionary player has been three years in design and is nothing like any player in specialist Hi Fi today. Rega, together with its design partners have pioneered something new and very special - a highly advanced servo controller which uses the very latest signal processing techniques to ensure that the raw data that is recovered from the disc is of the very highest quality. Because our fully digital servo can use highly advanced algorithms the laser spot is kept in the optimum position for data recovery in terms of focus spot size and tracking position.
Extra error correction
Previous chip-sets always made compromises on error correction. Likewise it was possible to have good jog resistance if the music was compromised or better musical performance at the expense of jog resistance. Regas new chip-sets allows optimum musical performance and optimised jog or vibration resistance.
Super-stable phase lock loop
Our entire IC is clocked via a very special PLL of our own design. This allows better CD data recovery as well as a big improvement in the quality of the data delivered to the DAC.
Low noise digital design
In the design of our CPU IC we went to very great lengths to ensure that the data and address bus noise was kept at an absolute minimum, this will ensure that the ground and signal connections to the DAC are as 'clean' as is possible.
DAC design
We have used the very latest highest performance DAC from our previous partners Wolfson, the highly sonically regarded WM8740 Sigma Delta 24bit DAC with differential outputs.
Output
The new player utilises a brand new design output amplifier. This amplifier is of discreet design and uses the very highest quality audio components. It operates in 'Class A' and represents a big step up in performance from previous players. Because of the high quality 'Class A' output stage the CD players sound quality will improve over the first 15 minutes after switching on.
Remote Control
The player will come with a dedicated CD remote control handset as standard. Although the remote control supplied as standard is specific to the this model and is necessary to access the advanced functions of the player the Rega ‘Solar' universal remote will control all the basic functions of the Apollo.
MP3!
Not only will this player set new levels for sound quality for our customers but it also has the capability of playing MP3 discs. It offers up to 100 albums play back capability from one disc.
We hope you enjoy this very special new player, we have spent a very long time creating it, drawing on all of our 32 years experience in specialist Hi Fi manufacturing.
Rega are very proud to announce the launch of Saturn CD player.
Listed below are new features found exclusively in the Saturn
Two parallel connected Wolfson WM8740 dual differential Digital to Analogue converters improving the dynamic range and linearity.
The master clock provided by a High stability low jitter crystal oscillator module.
Substantial 60VA toroidal transformer with separate windings for audio, digital & display circuits.
High capacity power supply's utilising Nichicon Fine Gold audio grade capacitors & fast rectifier diodes.
Digital to Analogue converters utilising Solid Polymer de-coupling capacitors.
Nichicon Fine gold audio grade capacitors by-passed by Evox film capacitors are employed in the signal path, and in the audio sensitive de-coupling positions in the Digital to Analogue converters
Post DAC analogue amplifier and filter employ a Cascade pair discrete Class A amplifier using low base spreading resistance transistors.
The Post DAC analogue amplifier and filter is supplied from a low impedance supply, giving a tighter & enhanced bass.
Large double-sided PTH PCB with generous ground planes.
These improvements take sound performance far in advance of the already superior level achieved by the Apollo.
We hope you enjoy this very special new player, we have spent a long time creating it, drawing on all of our 32 years experience in specialist Hi Fi manufacturing.

Tonearms
In The Beginning...
In 1983, after using the Rega designed Japanese built R200 tonearm for 10 years, Rega decided to design and build their first tonearm in the UK, the RB300 (Rega Britain). The high pressure die-cast silicon alloy tube alone took two years to develop with the UK's largest die casting company. The work and our casting subsequently won us both an "international casting award" from America for what is still considered today to be a technically impossible casting. See if you can find one the same! To date, Rega have sold over 250,000 RB300 derived British tonearms...

RB250
For those on a budget, the RB250 will offer astonishing performance for its price. It is fitted as standard to the famous P2 turntable and is also the choice of many other turntable manufacturers on an OEM basis.

RB300
The first Rega tonearm, and perhaps the most famous tonearm ever produced, the legendary RB300. Fitted to the P3, this tonearm will never be found wanting for performance and will make cartridges work very hard to provide you with astonishing quantities of musical detail.

RB700
The RB700, improves greatly on the previous model, the RB600. The aluminium tube has been specially coated in a unique finish and the entire bearing housing has been redesigned and is now manufactured to even higher tolerances.
The tonearm tube itself (which is a one piece silicone/aluminium casting) is very rigid, whilst being low mass. The tonearm assembly is concentrated around precision, hardened stainless steel, miniature ball races of the highest quality. The bearings fit on to ground shafts and into the tonearm using interference fits. This means that no adhesive is required and therefore none of the associated (component - adhesive - component) losses in rigidity prevail. It is fitted to the plinth by a 3-point fixing which is CNC machined out of a single solid block of Stainless steel. This provides the strongest most rigid base structure possible for the tonearm and causes less stress on the plinth and the RB700's bearing housing, and therefore the least possible resonance.
The RB700 tonearm is designed to make cartridges work harder, maximising the cantilever acceleration and travel as much as possible with the utmost accuracy within the cartridge body thus providing new levels of information.

RB1000
The RB1000 takes thirty times longer to produce than an RB300. At present there are only two of our most highly trained and experienced technicians that can build this exotic tonearm.
The RB1000 carries more technological changes over previous Rega tonearms than any other Rega tonearm produced during the last twenty years! Key areas of improvement can be found in the bearing assemblies, wiring and materials used. We have worked to redistribute and reduce mass in areas of the tonearm where mass is critical to performance. The easiest place to see these changes in evidence would be the polished aluminium arm tube. It has no coatings of any type. The changes we have made over the RB900 have resulted in a tonearm with extremely high structural rigidity, combining ultra low friction movement together with incredible stability. These attributes will make any cartridge mounted on this tonearm work harder than they have ever worked before. Do not be surprised if the first time you listen to familiar music, you hear detail that you have not heard before!

Important Modification Information
Rega does not approve of any modification or rewiring carried
out on our tonearms by other companies.
The high rigidity and weight of wires used in many common
modifications will often lead to excessive bearing wear and restriction on bearing movement.
This shortens the life of the product and will lower performance.
Any attempt to modify our products will instantly invalidate your lifetime warranty.
